It's All About Rush
I really thought Rush fans were thicker skinned, but nothing inspires comments more than a few slings and arrows flung the way of The Pompous One, America's Newscaster, OxyContin Man.
Few things would be higher on my list of pet peeves than hearing someone say "But Rush said ..." except for maybe hearing Rush say something. Anything.
Every time anything negative is ever written on Rush, the quick out is always, "He's a showman ... an entertainer." OK, whatever. I guess I actually may have to finally relent and agree with you since the things he says are so preposterous and offensive he has to be on stage acting out some kind of weird one-man show. I'm convinced of it.
For your thought-provoking entertainment and reading pleasure, I have devised "Rush's Top 5" ... a list of things that make Rush what he really is. I've given it some clear, unencumbered thought and since he is a showman, there are certain things that simply have to make him tick.
By the way, I feel perfectly qualified to make these assessments because I have agreed with him on numerous occasions over the years ... every afternoon when he says "Folks, it's time to go." You ain't lyin' big boy:
Top 5 Actions That Make Rush Limbaugh What He Really Is:
1. SELL RUSH. Don't believe me? Try to access copy on his Internet site without paying for it ... it's all about Rush, baby, don't you forget it.
2. BASH CLINTON. Limbaugh wouldn't even have a job if it weren't for Clinton ... he should be on his knees facing upstate New York genuflecting to the former president every ... day. Personally, I think the man is a little warped to still be up there whippin' up on Clinton ... five .. years ... after ... he's gone. What's up with THAT? That's just weird.
3. BASH ANYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH HIS EVERY WORD. Ever hear the poor slobs who call him? Even conservative callers ... they may be right, but they're never right enough. Rush always has to be more right. God forbid the callers who get through who oppose anything this man believes in. They don't stand a chance. They are done when Rush says they are done. I'm sorry ... they are done the moment they decide to pick up the phone and make that call.
4. SELL RUSH (See 1).
5. SELL RUSH (See 4).
Make no mistake ... America, conservatism, the spread of freedom ... they're all secondary topics (or, more accurately, tertiary behind bashing Clinton).
It really is about nothing more than The Man. It really is no more complicated than that. He really is no more complicated than that.
With all his faults, Rush is still more popular than you. Doesn't that just gall ya?
