Legendary Midland band director hospitalized

Randystorie_main_ Randy Storie, longtime band director at Midland Lee High School, is hospitalized at Midland Memorial with complications brought on by a long bout with diabetes. The following was posted on the MySpace page belonging to Courtney Ratliff, former student and student assistant at Lee:

If you haven't heard, Mr. Storie is in the hospital and it is pretty serious. As many of you know, Mr. Storie has had diabetes for quite some time. The most lingering affect has been his feet. He recently got an infection in his foot that caused his bones to, as he put it, turn to mush. The doctors are going to try some things so that he will at least be able to get back on the podium.

Anyone who knows Mr. Storie knows that his band is his life. It is just destroying him to not be able to teach his kids or just to be in the band hall.

Love him or hate him, the man helped shape us into who we are today.

Our best to Mr. Storie and prayers for a full recovery.
