« Hi. I'm Jimmy. And I'm a technoholic. I have just returned from a week with no Internet, no blogging, no cell phone, no texting, no IM-ing, no voice mail, no email, and no iPod. And I am in such a state of withdrawal I think I am itching all over. | Main | My special kinship with The King »

A visit to the main cave at Carlsbad Caverns was one of my all time favorite childhood adventures. It's such a wonder of nature.

That was before people could go in on their on, and we had to go with a park ranger in a guided tour. The guide would stop at one point and turn off the lights to demonstrate what total darkness was like, and he told us that our eyes could never adapt to the darkness. All the kids stayed pretty close to the parents for the rest of the tour.

A recent list of West Texas sight seeing spots strangely omitted Carlsbad Caverns. I guess that state line is more formidable than it used to be.

George ... I'm with ya. It might as well be Texas as far as I'm concerned.
