One of the most gratifying things about working on fundraisers is the cooperative spirit shown in the planning and execution of such an event. Such a spirit is alive and well with Saturday's Blogging For Fair Havens.
Seven local writers representing eight well-read blogs in Midland have agreed to come down to the H-E-B parking lot and help the fund raising process, and their excitement levels are as wide-ranging as you might expect.
Ospurt, one of the editors at JessicasWell.com, has agreed to give an hour of blogging late Saturday night. For those of you anxious to finally get a peep of one of the Wellheads, give it up: Ospurt plans to come outfitted just like he did when he showed last year -- in the finest designer paper bag, to keep his identity protected. And that's fine; we're just excited to be in the presence of a representative of what is certainly the most politically influential publication in the Permian Basin even if it is for just an hour late at night and the dude is wearing a sack.
Once he heard there would be free food (if only he supplied it) and respectable women, Wallace Craig, from Streams agreed to donate an off hour, although I'm not real sure what the difference would be if he gave us one of his "on" hours.
Jeff McDonald, the younger more sprightly Midland College version of Albus Dumbledore, will blog from his own Archeaotexture blog and then at his newfound West Texas MIssioner blog.
George Johns, who runs Sleepless in Midland, will give two hours, one Saturday at 4 p.m., and then again to help close out the Blogathon at 6 a.m. Sunday.
Janie Snelson, who sent out over 700 email donor appeals Wednesday, will join us and and raise some large from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
Finally, photoblogger extraordinaire J.P. Hearn will snap pictures from around town every hour from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday and post them at bleuchocolate.com. J.P. has indicated he will put his 24-hour photo-essay of Blogging for Midland Fair Havens in book form and sell copies with profits going to Fair Havens.
Each of our guest bloggers who'll come down and spend an hour or two at H-E-B have agreed to raise $50 during their time in the sun. And to each, I, and Fair Havens, are forever grateful for your generosity.

Blogging for Fair Havens: All Day. All Night. All Good.
7 a.m. Saturday - 7 a.m. Sunday. H-E-B parking lot. Midkiff & Wadley
Politically Influential? I like to just think we try and help folks understand local issues and save a few bucks on their local taxes. Which, by the way, makes it easier to make a donation to Fair Havens.

So if I just go ahead and fork over $50 beforehand, can I sit around the HEB parking lot eating free food with the Swedish girls?
