Jimmy, changing size can also be a matter of economics. In the 90s, Charlie Spence made the MRT the first daily in West Texas - and, I think, the first in the state - to go with a reduced size ... in order to reduce the cost of paper stock, I was told. The paper I edited - the Fort Stockton Pioneer - was being printed on the MRT's press, so we became the first weekly in Texas to embrace the new, reduced size.
