If it's the gear that gets you, Big Bend Cowboys management has turned out a nice green and red color scheme and a marketable, fun team logo. Both designs were released this morning. The team starts play May 17 in Alpine against Southern Louisiana, a travel team in the Continental Baseball League. It'll be a challenge for team officials to get the merchandise ready for fans in time for the home opener, but after what they've accomplished to this point, nothing seems too improbable for the group putting the team together.
Im interested in playing for the cowboys. Who do I need to talk to? I don't play for Sul Ross right now but I attend classes here and I am a full time student. Please contact me. My number is 210-577-2633. Thank You

Enjoyed your story in this morning's MRT. Brought back memories of 50 years ago when my parents and I drove to Alpine to see the Midland Braves take on the Alpine Cowboys in a Class D Sophomore league game. Midland was a Braves farm team and Alpine was affiliated with the Red Sox. At least two players on the Alpine team went on to have successful big league careers including Don Schwall who I believe was an AL Rookie of the Year. Kokernot was, and apparently still is, a beautiful baseball facility. I wish the Big Bend Cowboys much success.

Steve ... thanks for the feedback and for checking into the BB Cowboys Web site. After talking to JR the GM, I think they're scrambling pretty quickly to make things happen in time for the home opener and havent quite nailed down a web site yet. In fact, merchandise may not be available in time for the home opener was what I heard last week. But thee guys are serious about making this work; I wouldnt be surprised if they didn't have something to offer in time for May 17's home double header opener. I can imagine sitting in that setting and watching a baseball game. Wow. Cant wait.

I just learned a dear friend's son, Chris Bennett is pitching for the Cowboys. He was a standout at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. Great family.
